What is Passover? Its History and Traditions Passover is perhaps the most established celebration on the planet. This celebration falls in spring, in the primary month of the Hebrew year, called Nisan (March-April), and goes on for eight days, from the fifteenth to the twenty-third. It remembers the arrival of the Israelites from Egypt and the way that God ââ¬Å"passed overâ⬠their homes when he looked for the primary conceived in that land. à à à à à According to the Bible, the account of Passover runs as follows. A gathering of Hebrews known as the children of Jacob descended from Canaan towards Egypt. They settled under a kind system, where they were made slaves and set to work, constructing the urban areas of Pithum and Raamses. The pharaoh requested all the Hebrew children to be murdered during childbirth. A Hebrew mother set her baby youngster into a container and set him in the Nile River, to escape the pharaohââ¬â¢s order. The Pharaohââ¬â¢s little girl discovered this Hebrew infant, called him Moses, took him home and raised him. à à à à à One day, he saw a severe assault upon a Hebrew by an Egyptian supervisor; angered by the assault Moses killed the Egyptian. Dreading to be executed for slaughtering an Egyptian, he fled to Midian, where he wedded the little girl of a neighborhood cleric. On one event while going to the sheep of his dad in-law on Mount Horeb, Moses saw a scene of a consuming hedge. This hedge appeared to be some how not to expend. Considering what was occurring, he came nearer to the shrubbery and the nearby god Yahweh (Jehovah) revealed to him that the Israelites were enduring, and that he had been decided to discharge them from Egypt and lead them to the paradisal land, what is referred to now as Palestine and Syria. Moses needed to acquaint Jehovah with the Israelites, and after they had embraced him, he needed to go to the Pharaoh and solicitation the arrival of the individuals. à à à à à To show that it was to be sure Jehovah, who had addressed Moses, Moses was outfitted with three mysterious certifications. In the first place, his staff was transformed into a snake and afterward returned to its ordinary shape. Second, when he set his hand under his sleeve, it became sick and afterward it recuperated when he expelled it. Third, he was informed that if the individuals continued scrutinizing his strategic, was to give them noticeable confirmation by diverting water from the Nile into blood before their eyes. à à à à à As appointed, ... ...ortance, empowering the individual to know about appreciation, and to broaden an individualââ¬â¢s viewpoint of himself/herself comparable to his/her kindred people. The Feast of Freedom, called Passover, is a case of a significant story demonstrating Godââ¬â¢s goal to pass on a harmony between the Hebrewsââ¬â¢ self concerns and the worries of their foes, as God reminds the Hebrew to petition God for the fallen Egyptians armed force and the killed first-borns of the Egyptian families. Passoverââ¬â¢s idea of opportunity isn't just a reason for festivity, yet in addition a solid exercise in the estimation of how an individual should behave or a gathering should act to other people. An Overview of Bilingual Education Essay - 3835 Words
Overview of Bilingual Education Is a second language a necessity in our world today? Should parents push for their child to learn two languages in elementary school? If we live in multicultural neighborhoods, trade with the global marketplace, and want to use all technology resources available, it is necessary to know two languages. Multilingual people and communities seem to have an edge over monolingual competition. This provides people of all ages an incentive to learn a second language (Genesee, 1998). In this research paper English and Spanish will be the languages referred to for bilingual education, although others are offered. The purpose of this paper is to compare the benefits and pitfalls of language immersion programsâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Itââ¬â¢s a plus. Learning the first language at the same time as learning English is having a positive effect on both languages. At home the parents feel that they can communicate with their children,â⬠(p. 664) says a Khmer-speaking teacher in Australia (Barrot-Pugh Rohl, 2001). Khmer is spoken in all Australian homes and is practically required for children to learn. This program is not only for increasing cognitive skills, but also for students to communicate fully in their community and within their families. One in every four children in Australia speaks a language other than English. Australian children are encouraged and greatly supported by the community to learn a second language, which is why these numbers are so high. If the United States had the same motivation for their children, it would produce many more bilingual children. All children in the Khmer-English program show parallel development in the two languages. Many kids accomplish this by using information from one language to assist the development of the other language. Learning Khmer gives the children a sense of identity in their home and culture (Barratt-Pugh Rohl, 2001). This is a good example of a community using all its available resour ces, and hopefully Americans will learn from their enthusiasm. Autism free essay sample
This paper discusses autism, a development disorder that inhibits communication and severely limits the development of a childs skills. The author describes the behavior and developmental problems of autistic children. This paper focuses on autistic children ages three to five, because this is the age when diagnosis and treatment begins. The paper states that Federal law requires that at age five, when the child is ready to begin kindergarten, the state of residence must provide the child, his/her parents and the school system with an individualized education plan. The paper discusses various treatment programs. Unfortunately, the newness of the condition hampers the diagnosis and treatment for children with autism. Autism itself has many varying severities, what might show up in one child might not show up in another. For this reason, autism is usually defined as a spectrum disorder, or one that can have symptoms in any combination with different levels.
